How was your weekend? We had a great one. We went to the town 30 km from the heart of Jakarta called Karawaci. I heard about this place from my friend, Julie, when I was telling her that my husband and I were thinking about going away for our girls’ birthdays instead of giving a birthday party. She suggested that this would be a good place for a short get-away. I am so glad she told me about this place. I had the most relaxing weekend and our girls had a blast.
Karawaci is about 30-40 minute car ride from South Jakarta, where we are, without traffic on the toll road and with traffic it could take about an hour and a half (so I heard). It’s close to downtown of Jakarta once you get on a toll road. The city is quaint. We stayed at Aryaduta Hotel in Lippo Village, Karawaci. I will write about the hotel on Friday as my Friday Finds.
We went there instead of giving a birthday party and it was well worth the money. I cook 5 times a week if not more. To me vacation is when I do not have to think about what for dinner and standing in the kitchen to prepare. On the day we got there and the following day it rained, but it didn’t matter to us. It felt good to lounge in the hotel room and watch TV without worrying about the time.
My husband worked half day on Friday and we left for the hotel in the afternoon. By the time we got to our hotel room it was mid afternoon. It started raining, so our girls played with the toys they received from their grandparents in San Antonio, Texas that just arrived on that day. For dinner we went to a Japanese restaurant in the hotel, whose photos I will post on Friday.
The following day, Saturday, was sunny in the morning, so I took the girls to the pool while my husband first went to the gym and he joined us later. The big attraction of this pool would be the water slide. My first daughter and I had a blast going down the slide together. It was so much fun. We went back to the room and took a shower, and then walked to the shopping mall, Supermal Karawaci. It is a local mall where it seems that everyone from this town goes to hang out on weekends. It even had an indoor amusement park.
We had lunch at “Ta Wan”, a Chinese restaurant in the mall and then went to a cafe, Secret Recipe to give our girls some treat for their birthdays. Unfortunately, our second girl fell asleep, so she didn’t get to enjoy!
We took our girls to see a recently released Disney movie “Tangled”. They loved it. I thought the movie was funny, beautiful, entertaining and great for families. I highly recommend it. 3D made it even more fun and our girls kept their glasses on during the entire movie.
On Sunday, the day we came back, we had breakfast and went to the pool to play for a little while before we checked out from the hotel. Our older girl wanted to stay in the pool longer, but we had to get ready to leave. We enjoyed the time so much that I was sad for it to be over. It was also nice that I logged out from the computer for 2 and a half days. I needed that break.
Now we have to decorate our house for Christmas. I couldn’t use this weekend for that, so I have to do it during the week. We’ll see….
