Tokyo DisneySea Japan

My sister and her husband and another sister of mine wanted to take my girls to Disneyland or DisneySea this summer. Since I have not been to Tokyo DisneySea and our girls love Ariel in Little Mermaid, I thought it would be fun to go to Tokyo DisneySea. It was a hot summer day in Tokyo, so being close to the water with the ocean breeze sounded nice, too.

DisneySea is a lot of fun. The benefits I saw was that for families with very young children, Little Mermaid’s Lagoon is a great place to hang out. My 3-year-old has a low tolerance to heat, so she and I spent a lot of time at the Mermaid’s Lagoon indoor park area while my sisters, brother-in-law and my older daughter went to try some other rides. The rides at the Little Mermaid Lagoon are perfect for my 3-year-old and she also enjoyed playing in the play ground. For my 6-year-old, because she’s already above the height for all the rides with a height restriction, she had a lot of options and she enjoyed some scary rides. (Some of them require a height above 117 cm.)

If you want to meet variety of princesses and Disney characters though, Disneyland might be the place to go. In terms of rides, I felt that with my 3-year-old, we might have had more options with typical Disney rides in Disneyland than DisneySea even though she did enjoy all 5 or 6 rides at the Mermaid Lagoon and she could enjoy several other rides in other areas. It felt like there are more shows to watch at Tokyo DisneySea which is fun for kids and adults. They are all in Japanese though… My second child saw the Little Mermaid’s Ariel Musical Show twice and loved them both times. (I recommend this show. I think it’s well done.)

Unlike Tokyo Disneyland alcohol drinks are available at Tokyo DisneySea. I was with my little ones, so I didn’t have any alcohol beverage, but it would be fun to go there with friends and have some drinks while enjoying some shows and rides.

KAHO, We went while we lived there and it was fabulous. Just went to Disneyland in California and we were disappointed. We bought Duffy while we were there, and Ava was doted on by the lovely Japanese locals…I miss that attention our children now being in the States. Enjoy! The girls are just gorgeous!!! And, I voted for you today:)

You have Duffy! Your girls are so adorable, I’m surprised that they don’t get as much attention in the U.S. Thanks for voting, Melissa!! You’re always sooo sweet!!
