The Lil Flea Pop Up Market

October The Lil Flea-5

The Lil Flea is a pop up market that take place at different locations in Mumbai, India throughout a year. The Lil Flea is a great market to discover new brands and shop at variety of vendors for lovely items all in one location. They also have a food market area where you can try different foods and drinks. My friend took me to The Lil Flea held at the Reclamation ground in Bandra, Mumbai last December 2014. I had so much fun shopping for Christmas and I had a blast. If The Lil Flea takes place again in December, I highly recommend people going because the weather was simply gorgeous in December in Mumbai and it was a great place to take care of Christmas shopping or any souvenir shopping for those who go visit their families in the winter break. The photos I posted here do not feature […]

Easy Halloween DIY ☆ Spider Web & Spiders

Easy spider web & spider DIY-17

Have I told you that I’m the biggest procrastinator and good at doing things at the last minute? Well, working on this Halloween DIY on a night before this year’s Halloween and publishing this DIY post on the Halloween Day says a lot, doesn’t it? At least I can say I did it! If I can do this DIY, you can do it, too. This Halloween DIY to make a spider web and spiders is simple, easy and quick using accessible materials. Even if you live in a country where you can’t get already-made Halloween goods at a store, you can at least make a spider web and spiders to give a festive Halloween look for your home, a party room or even a car for trunk-or-treat. I hope you’ll enjoy it! 私は結構一夜漬けタイプで、何をするにも結構ぎりぎりになることがあります。このハロウィンのDIY(Do It Yourselfの略で、日曜大工や工作などをDIYと呼びます。) SPIDER WEB What You Need Pipe cleaners (I used 2 packages) Fluffy black string […]

Wednesday Wall2Wall ☆ Tea Party Birthday Celebration

Birthday Tea Party

Last year we did not give our daughters birthday parties. (Here is the post about a celebration of my older daughter’s 6th birthday in 2010) We moved from the States to Indonesia in July, 2010 and we did not have a car during the first 6 months, so I felt overwhelmed with the holiday season and also preparing for a birthday party seemed too much without a car. This year, however, I knew I wanted to have birthday parties for both of our girls. My girls have been to many big birthday parties in Jakarta, but I wanted something rather small and personal. I picked the theme afternoon tea party for both of our girls because you can have a party in the afternoon and all I need to prepare is desserts for the party. This allowed me to have less time to prepare than cooking lunch for the guests. […]

Father’s Day

IMG_7719

Hello there again. It’s been a week since we left Virginia on June 24. Where are we now? We are in good ol’ Texas. We first landed in Dallas and spend time with my husband’s sister and nephew. Then we drove all the way down to San Antonio. We’ve made a long way. How have we been? Great. We’ve had one sick child and one sick mom (yes, me) along the way though. I worked and played non-stop for a while before we left our old home in Virginia. I’m paying my dues right now. The accumulated stress and fatigue over the past month before our big pack-out finally came down to hit me. Before I go on to post about our vacation in Texas, I wanted to post this since this is long over due. We had a Father’s Day with our friends right before our impending pack-out. Everyone […]

We made a trip to see our friends who live about 45-minute drive south on an interstate from where we live. They have been our family friends from Okinawa and our kids have grown up together in the past 4 years. That’s a long time considering our oldest ones are only 5 and a half years old. That’s most of their lives. We left Okinawa at the same time in summer 2008 with our friends only a month apart and came back to the Northern Virginia where we live close enough to see each other on a regular basis. I tried to have a play date with my friend, Meredith’s kids at least once a month in the past 2 years. Whenever we made a trip down to our friends’ over a weekend, we usually spent the night at their place and our kids enjoyed having a sleepover. The trip […]

Feelin’ Like Crafting ☆ Wreath Making

IMG_2473

Spring is a good time to make a wreath as you can probably use the same wreath from spring till the end of summer depending on the colors you use. When I went to a craft store in April, there was a huge variety of craft flowers I could choose from. I bought a base wreath for something like $4. The flowers are not so cheap unless you go there during sales, so the whole thing might end up costing more than you expected, but you can make your original, the only one you find in the world. What you need 1. base 2. flowers & leaves 3. craft wires 4. craft tape When you pick flowers, you chose one big main flower, middle size flowers, and small flowers. In my case, the two lilies are used as the main flowers, the small white flowers are used as middle size, […]

This is the picture of my most recent creation, a wreath for summer. My Japanese friend, Nami, has a certificate to teach flower arrangement, so she helped me make this. I picked out these artificial flowers and the base from a craft store and she taught me how to make a wreath. I have some pictures of the making, so I plan on posting the photos so that some of you who might be interested in making one can get some ideas. I could’ve not done this without a help from my friend, but I’ll try to spell out the lessons and advice she gave me as much as I remember. The wreath in the photo on this page was not checked by Nami, so it might look different after she does a final checking. I spent a while writing up a post for yesterday. Even though I love blogging, […]
