Back In Jakarta After Summer Vacation

Canon PowerShot S3IS

We returned to Jakarta this past Monday after a wonderful 6-week vacation. I am happy to be home. Home now to me is where my husband and our kids are and our stuff is. At the same time, I feel the heaviness in my heart. I don’t know exactly what it is.

We left Jakarta in mid June for our vacation. We first went to Tokyo, then to Texas, then back to Tokyo and finally to Bali. My husband didn’t stay in Tokyo the second time and had a business trip in Bali for a while, so our daughters and I joined him there towards the end of his trip. It was my first time to be in Bali.

I’m having a bit of an adjustment back in our routine. Is it blogging that gives me pressure? I really don’t know the answer. I have broken my daily routine of blogging during our vacation and now I feel like I have lost my momentum. I would like to write more, but I seem to be unable to find the energy.

One thing that makes me think is the cause of my lethargy is the problems with my stomach. This is common in Jakarta. I had parasite back in October last year. The symptom for parasite, in my case fatigue, bloated stomach, and nausea after eating, started again before we took off for vacation. As soon as I arrived in Japan though, I think I shocked my parasite with clean hygiene. Now back in Jakarta, I have discomfort in my stomach and no energy again.

Until I settle back in my routine and also finish my vacation posts, I will make posts with vacation based topic and not follow my column schedule. I hope that is okay.

Here are little pieces of our vacation in the past month and a half. The photos below were all taken with my new Canon EOS Rebel T3.

下が過去1ヶ月半の休暇中のちょっとした写真です。私の新しいカメラ、キャノンのEOS Rebel T3で撮影しました。日本だとKissという名前になっていると思います。

Hope you’re feeling better by the time you read this comment. Unfortunately, I’ve heard that fatigue can only be cured by another long holiday :p

    Hi Kaho,

Welcome back to Jakarta. What a great holiday you must have, spending time with families, that’s precious.
So, finally you went to Bali? How was it? I miss Bali so much, I wish I could go there, like soon :)
Love all your pictures, it’s like we don’t need the story anymore, the pictures kind of doing all the story telling :)

Kaho, could you please suggest me which Canon camera is the best, yet more affordable? Is the Canon EOS T3 good? And how about the Canon PowerShot S3IS? I own an older type of powershot, but really thinking to change for a new one (:

    Have a nice day.

Deisha, thanks for your question! I liked Canon PowerShot S3IS and I used it for 4 years to the point the black coating around the handle came off. I am loving my Canon DSLR. If you have enough budget, I suggest you get Canon EOS Rebel T2i, which is a level up from T3, my camera. I loved Canon EOS Rebel T2i when I went to a store to get a feel of it. I wanted it badly, but it was about $200 more than EOS Rebel T3. Canon EOS Rebel T3 and T2i are about the same, but T2i is slightly better. Ergonomically T2i is better. For example, it’s easier to change ISO on Canon EOS Rebel T2i. I didn’t notice that until I started using T3 myself. I didn’t get T2i because we went home to the U.S. this summer and we spent a lot of money. Another thing is that our daughter had a surgery and we were worried about the medical bills. Usually people upgrade their camera every several years (I used my Canon PowerShot S3IS for 4 years), so I’m sure I will upgrade to a higher level DSLR eventually, but for now, with my skill, I thought Canon EOS Rebel T3, the lowest end of DSLR, is sufficient and it was simply affordable for me. Canon EOS Rebel T3 was $560+tax.
